Michael : Seeing, Hearing, Being Who is Helping?

Who is Helping?

Posted on Jun 25th, 2008 by Michael : Seeing, Hearing, Being Michael
Today I feel like everything I have learned about letting go in this life came into perfect practice to help another person.

I work in hospice by doing marketing, teaching nurses and occasional Reiki treatments on patients in the early stages of disease.

Today I was in a hospital visiting a dr to get papers signed, when one of our nurses informed me that one of our hospice patients was in the next room actively dying.

I decided to give her Reiki and told the nurse. So we both went in there and the nurse explained who I was to the patient.

When I walked into this room I saw a very young scared girl about 37 dying from breast and brain cancer. She had no hair, skinny and able to speak and look you right in the eyes. She was also gasping a little for breath and suffering. I went over touched her hand and said listen to my voice and follow me. Close your eyes and picture yourself sitting on a beach, no one there except you.... etc....

I then through a meditation pointed her to who she was... the breeze as she felt it, the sun light as it hit her face, the space between sound as i spoke, the grains of sand and That which holds them together. each illusion of her dissolved under my voice as she rolled her eyes in the back of her head and relaxed.

I then instructed her to let to go... she is not in charge of anything.. she did not think anything to become born, and has not been in charge of her breath, hair growth, thoughts or life since birth.. and that the act of passing and changing is not hers to control. Its automatic and is done by resting into That which you are.

During this time her ex husband came into the room knelt down beside her and a stream of tears quietly rolled down his cheek.

I then continued and touched her head lightly held her hand and stayed there for a few minutes pointing once more to who she is... the space of silence, the place where breath goes to.... the moment we touch... this is .... who we are

I then replaced my hand with that of her friends and left the room. As i left they sat in silence together holding onto each other knowing.

I went to my car and finished listening to the Van Morrison CD that was playing and drove away.   (smiling)

Thank you Michael, for describing this  moment in such a beautiful way.. I can feel space and freedom of the moment itself,  between each written word.. (smiling)
